Are you bored to tears waiting on your husband to get home from a business trip? Maybe you’re a person who has lots of remodeling to do but never enough funds? Possibly you’ve just completed a project that called for vinyl floor tiles and you simply can’t stand the thought of those leftover tiles going to waste? Whatever your particular circumstances you might find it beneficial and/or fun to turn your baseboards into fun mosaics! Don’t think that means you’ll have to spend hours upon hours doing grout work and facing similar challenges. You can make mosaic baseboards with ease! The only tools you’ll need is a ruler and a pair of scissors!
Vinyl floor tiles are really easy to cut. Their peel-and-stick backing makes it a breeze to create the mosaic look for your baseboards. If you don’t have any vinyl floor tiles already on hand you can purchase them at some dollar-theme stores, discount department stores, and even home improvement retailers. You can use any color or design of tile. Use tiles of all the same design or combine two or three different tile types to create a diverse mosaic pattern.
Cut the floor tiles into squares and rectangles. Don’t cut them all the same sizes and shapes. Cut some long and narrow, others short and wide. Even cut other shapes, like an “L” shape. Leave the backing on the tile pieces until you’re ready to attach them to the baseboards.
Peel and stick the first tile to a corner area of the baseboard. Continue peel and sticking the tile pieces to the baseboard. It takes a little time to arrange all the pieces to cover the entire baseboard; this is a project you can do over a period of time. Anytime if you need to, cut specific shapes to fill in areas where you don’t have tiles that fit exactly.
The mosaic baseboards are gorgeous and look quite costly and unique. Create coordinating pieces in the room by using the vinyl floor tiles to cover mantles, table tops, picture or mirror frames, vases, cornices, cupboard doors and more.
Although it’s somewhat time-consuming to finish the mosaic baseboards or other objects it isn’t difficult at all. You’ll love the look so much, though, that you’ll spend hours making even more easy mosaic décor!
