If you are looking for a free agent or waiver wire pickup for your fantasy football team in Week 5, here are a couple of the best options likely available in your league. Waiver Wire Pickups at each starting position are posted, including QB – RB – WR – TE – K – D. Each players ownership percentage in a standard 10 team yahoo public league is posted after their name. If you have any comments or questions, you can post them in the comment box below this article. Thanks for Reading! – Hawk Michaels at Hawk Fantasy Sports Blog.
Sam Bradford – StL = @Det / 33%
With any type of rookie nerves seemingly behind him, Bradford is verging on becoming a rare find as a potentially reliable fantasy football starting QB this season as a rookie. At just 33% owned in 10 team leagues, Bradford is an excellent waiver wire pickup and spot starter this week for any fantasy football teams who have Tom Brady, Michael Vick or Jay Cutler.
Matt Cassel – KC = @Ind / 24%
Simply put, the Colts defense has been a mess so far this season. It would not be surprising if Cassel put together a very solid game, with stats in the range of 225 passing yards and 1 touchdown with no turnovers.
David Garrard – Jac = @Buf / 21%
After a breakout 3 touchdown performance last week, Garrard has seemingly bought himself at least another week or two to hold a firm grip on his starting job in Jacksonville. A matchup against the Bills this week should have Garrard continuing with his hot hand, and another 2 or 3 touchdown performance is possible this week as well.
Ryan Fitzpatrick – Buf = Jac / 4%
If you are doing some deep digging, Fitzpatrick is actually a decent spot starting QB option for fantasy football teams this week.
Shaun Hill – Det = StL / 9%
Hill clearly held his own against the Packers defense last week as he managed to tally over 300 passing yards, and with a matchup at home against the Rams this week, Hill is definitely worthy of being a spot starter in numerous leagues this week.
Bruce Gradkowski – Oak = SD / 10%
Gradkowski has done the impossible and revived the Raiders offense.

Max Hall – Ari = NO / 1%
The Max Hall era in Arizona should officially begin this week.
Mike Tolbert – SD = @Oak / 61%
Even with Ryan Matthews back and playing last week, Tolbert was still the #1 RB in the Chargers offensive attack. And better yet, Tolbert looked great in that role. With goal line work his to lose, Tolbert is a solid bet to tally 50-75 rushing yards this week and a touchdown is very likely.
Chris Ivory – NO = @Ari / 8%
If Pierre Thomas is out again, this is an excellent matchup for Ivory, as the Cardinals defense has surrendered an average of 154 rushing yards per game so far this season.
Marshawn Lynch – Buf = Jac / 34%
The Jaguars defense has given up their share of rushing yards and touchdowns so far this season, and Lynch could be in store for one of those TDs this week.
Ryan Torain – Was = GB / 21%
Torain could do surprisingly well against the Packers run defense this week if given enough carries.
Michael Bush – Oak = SD / 48%
Bush could do very well in this game if McFadden’s hamstring injury is still a problem come game day.
John Kuhn – GB = @Was / 17%
If you are looking at the Packers RB situation, Kuhn is the one I would want to start right now.
Fred Jackson – Buf = Jac / 34%
Whenever the Bills finally realize that Jackson is their best RB, he should instantly turn into fantasy football spot start worthy. This might just be the week Jackson is given an opportunity….and if he is given that opportunity, I expect him to take full advantage.
Dexter McCluster – KC = @Ind / 43%
With the Colts defense reeling, McCluster’s speed could easily be too much for the defense to handle in this game. So if you need a flex play, McCluster is a worthy recipient.
Lance Moore – NO = @Ari / 51%
The Lance Moore of two years ago seems to have reappeared. With an obvious connection between him and Drew Brees, Moore should continue to be a solid WR3 and flex starting option throughout the entire season. So if you need WR help over the long haul, use your waiver wire spot and see if you can get Moore.

Mario Manningham – NYG = @Hou / 60%
A weak secondary for the Texans means Manningham could easily have a big game in this matchup…assuming that Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith don’t steal all the receptions from Eli Manning.
Roy Williams – Dal = Ten / 45%
The forgotten man in Dallas, Roy Williams is slowly re-emerging as a fantasy football roster spot worthy WR. Keep him on your radar if you need WR help, as Williams offers a good amount of long term season potential.
Louis Murphy – Oak = SD / 46%
The injured clavicle cost Murphy a potentially good stat line in last weeks game, but don’t let that one game fool you, cause once he gets healthy again, Murphy should continue to excel as the Raiders #1 WR.
Mike Thomas – Jac = @Buf / 9%
The underappreciated and virtually unknown Mike Thomas has been the Jaguars best WR so far this season. If you are a Mike Sims-Walker owner, Thomas is actually the Jaguars WR I would want to have on my fantasy football team right now.
Danny Amendola – StL = @Det / 14%
Building a solid relationship with Sam Bradford, Amendola is easily flex and spot starter worthy this week as he faces a fairly weak Lions defense.
Tony Moeaki – KC = @Ind / 16%
Offering excellent pass catching ability for a tight end, Moeaki has already developed into one of Matt Cassel’s trusted dump off targets. A solid game could be in store for Moeaki this week against a poor Colts pass defense.
Marcedes Lewis – Jac = @Buf / 48%
The Bills defense has been fairly awful at covering tight ends so far this season, and Lewis is one of David Garrard’s top targets. Combined together, Lewis could reach 50 receiving yards and 1 touchdown this week.
Brandon Pettigrew – Det = StL / 20%
As the Lions leading receiver last week, Pettigrew looks like he is essentially fully recovered from the knee injury he sustained last season. This may be the time to get Pettigrew cheap if you are looking for a TE with high upside for the rest of the season.
Jermaine Gresham – Cin = TB / 32%
Daniel Fells – StL = @Det / 1%
Mike Nugent – Cin = TB / 58%
Josh Scobee – Jac = @Buf / 33%
Matt Bryant – Atl = @Cle / 34%
Jason Hanson – Det = StL / 3%
John Carney – NO = @Ari / 4%
Ryan Succop – KC = @Ind / 15%
Dallas Cowboys = Ten / 59%
New York Giants = @Hou / 59%
Cincinnati Bengals = TB / 57%
Atlanta Falcons = @Cle / 30%
San Francisco 49ers = Phi / 57%
