Obviously the number one way to feel alert in the morning is to down a cup of coffee, but what else can you do in the mornings to fight the urge of hitting the snooze button?
Drink a glass of water before bed.
Water will make you pee, which will prompt you to head straight to the bathroom once that alarm goes off.
Make sure you’re relaxed before you go to bed.
This is a key element to a good night’s sleep. Read a magazine or take a warm bath before you tuck yourself in. This will ensure that your body as well as your mind are ready to rest.
Once you wake up, stay up.
Light exercise such as brisk walking or a few push-ups will stimulate your mind and increase alertness and brain activity. This may involve a little extra motivation on your part though, but you will feel like a champ if you wake up and pump out 25 or 50 push-ups!
Eat a nutritious breakfast.
I cannot stress this one enough! Adding fruits to your morning routine will greatly increase your energy. Also, eating simple carbohydrates like toast or a waffle provide a quick boost of energy.
