The Wal-Mart in Santee, California is just like most other Wal-Mart stores. As usual, there are plenty of low-priced items down every isle of the store. A person can buy just about anything they need, and there is always a line at the registers. Basically, there is nothing that sets this Wal-Mart aside from any other one, except for one thing – the associates. While customer service might be high on the priorities of Wal-Mart on paper, this particular store does not convey it in the slightest bit.
The Store Itself
Before the customer service is analyzed, let’s take a look at the store itself. The outside of the building actually looks a little outdated compared to newer Wal-Mart stores, but this does not make it any less inviting than any other store. Luckily, there is a good amount of parking at both entrances of the store, so congestion is never an issue here, unlike at some other Wal-Mart branches. Inside, the store has an easily-accessible layout. Customer service kiosks and a McDonald’s stand on the right as you walk into the store with the check stands to your left. In front of you, there is the clothing section for both men, women, and younger children. The electronics section is in the middle of the back of the store, while automotive and outdoors sections are at the far left side of the store. Food lies in the middle of the store, as does household items. Basically, anything you are looking for in the store is easy to find, and nobody should have any trouble finding anything.
This Wal-Mart store is much like every other one in layout, inventory, and pricing. The only downside to this store is the customer service. Sadly, associates and other workers are not nearly as friendly as they could and should be. There is a small minority of employees there that will treat a person kindly and with respect, but the rest of the employees are actually quite unfriendly. Of course, you can’t expect a person to be friendly every day at work, but many of the employees at this store act poorly toward customers the majority of the time for no apparent reason. It may be common for employees to dislike entry-level jobs, but these employees take it too far.
Luckily, the few friendly employees at this Wal-Mart are some of the nicest people you’ll find at any store. They greet you with a smile and chat about random but friendly topics. This small majority of employees nearly makes up for the rest of them, which is no small feat. However, you won’t get lucky and have them as your cashier every single time, so be wary when you get one of the unfriendly associates.
All in all, the Santee Wal-Mart is great for cheap items but poor on customer service. That won’t stop most people from going here, since they can get all of their shopping done and save some money at the same time. Really though, the poor customer service is no reason not to go to this store if it doesn’t make a difference to you how you are treated. Traveling to another store really isn’t worth it if you prefer Wal-Mart.
