Teen pop idol and uber-heartthrob Justin Bieber seems to have gotten himself into a small altercation over the weekend that resulted in an actual police investigation into his alleged assault upon a 12-year-old boy. Bieber, himself only 16, was questioned and allowed to leave the Planet Lazer in Richmond, British Columbia, after being accused of hitting a boy with whom he was playing laser tag. During said confrontation, some reports, like those posted by TMZ, have said that Justin Bieber was a victim of “homophobic bullying” — he was allegedly called a “faggot” by the 12-year-old. But one witness says that those reports are false.
A friend of the father of the boy that was hit told Zack Taylor, a popularCanadian blog, that: “The kids never made any homophobic slurs toward Justin. That report is totally false.”
Zack Taylor reported that staffers at Planet Lazer have corroborated that no homophobic comments were made while the boys were playing laser tag.
Some are saying that the reports are blowing the incident way out of proportion.
But other reports differ. According to various sources and witness accounts, Justin Bieber was enjoying a game of laser tag when he was cornered by a 12-year-old (some say he was accompanied by several of his friends) who wouldn’t stop firing his laser at Bieber. When Bieber said he’d had enough, some have reported, according by TMZ, that the 12-year-old asked, “What are you gonna do about it, faggot?”
Sources say Bieber was surprised, asking, “Excuse me?”
The kid then said, “You’re a faggot,” and reached toward Bieber. An anonymous staffer at the Planet Lazer told the blog, Zack Taylor, that it just looked as if Bieber was doing what anyone else would have done in a game of laser tag — try to get away from being shot at. He said Justin Bieber “accidentally hit the kid while running away.”
After the incident, Bieber left the game area. The 12-year-old’s father called authorities. After the RCMP spoke with Bieber, he was allowed to leave. According to Radar Online, the father filed assault charges against the pop star and the investigation is ongoing. Police acknowledged that the 12-year-old received minimal injuries which required no medical treatment.
TMZ says that authorities do not believe that Justin Bieber instigated the altercation.
Incidentally, Justin Bieber (gamertag: Joe Dirt) paid for the entire round of laser tag.
