We all have bad days. You know, the days where you wake up in a terrible mood for absolutely no reason. While it may seem like there is no way to get out of this terrible mood, there are actually ways to make it diminish. Here are 4 ways to get out of a bad mood.
#1 Think about, or do the things that make you happy
Surround yourself with something that makes you happy. This can be a lover, a friend, a pet, a hobby, a place, or anything that makes you happy. By doing things that you enjoy, and spending time with people that you love, your bad mood will vanish. If you can’t see, or do the things that make you happy, simply think about them. Think about whatever it is that makes you happy, and clear your mind of anything else. Think about the good times this person, or thing has given you. Begin thinking of how happy you are going to be when you are able to see, or do what you are thinking about. Keep focusing on these things, and you will become happier.
#2 Help out a stranger
Unless you are a dark, cynical person, helping other people out brings you a bit of happiness. For example, hold the door open for someone, or help an elderly person lift something heavy. Whenever you do these things for people, they will thank you, and you will feel appreciated. You will make that persons day better, and in turn your day will get better as well.
#3 Get some exercise
If your in a bad mood, exercise may seem like it’s the last thing you want to do. However, believe it or not exercise will make you happy. When you exercise, you body releases “feel good” chemicals. These chemicals are called endorphins. When your body releases endorphins, it causes you to feel happier, and more at peace. You don’t have to have a strenuous exercise for these “feel good” chemicals to be released. You can get great results by simply taking a brisk walk.
#4 Eat something
I’m not talking about scarfing down two Big Macs. Many times when you have low blood sugar, it causes you to get in a bad mood. Not only will eating cause your blood sugar levels to go back to where they belong, it will make you happier as well. Most foods contain certain ingredients, and nutrients that make you feel comfortable, and happy. This is the reason why the term “comfort foods” exists. Food also makes you happy because when you eat something delicious it stimulates the production of endorphins. As I mentioned above, endorphins cause a person to feel happy, and more at peace. Next time you are in a bad mood, try eating your favorite food.
