Weeds Season 7 will premiere sometime next year. But although Weeds Season 7 is bound to happen, no one knew how it could be set up, at least before Season 6 Episode 13. With the Botwins rushing to get out of the country, and with the chance that some of them might not make it, no one knew what the outcome might be. Whatever happened, it had to pay off the last 13 weeks and set up a juicy scenario for next year. So after the season 6 finale, Weeds will have yet another big change in scenery for Nancy Botwin and her family.
Warning: Spoilers follow
It is hard to remember that the series started in the typically twisted suburbs. Since then, the Botwins have lived in Mexico, and gone almost everywhere else in between this year. But heading into the finale, the family was hoping to get away with one more trip out of the country.
The outcome was guaranteed to make Season 7 yet another big shift for the show. But for all the shifts and new locations in the last six years, the Botwins have always managed to face them together. However, things turned out a little differently this time.
As such, the twists in Season 6 Episode 13 served as one of the more radical game-changers for the show. It has already gotten away with standoffs, burning down the family house, pregnancies and murders in season finales. But getting out of this latest mess may be harder than usual for Nancy – although fans have several months to figure out how she could do it.
The fanbase will likely head into Season 7 with their faith restored, although it has been difficult. The last several years in general have been up and down, and tested many viewers’ patience at various times. The constant road trips and stunts this year have been no different, but the final string of episodes may have made up for it.
There is no doubt that the show isn’t afraid to shake things up, no matter how fans might react. The cliffhanger of Season 6 served as another calculated risk, as the series prepares to walk yet another tight rope.
Yet, for the moment, fans may be ready to put their trust in the show for this one. For all the hard problems Nancy has dealt with, she is about to face the biggest one of all – after narrowly managing to avoid it for six seasons.
The long wait for Season 7 is likely to go on until late next summer, as it will probably return with The Big C Season 2 on Monday nights.
