Kobe’s Week 2 Pick
Well week 1 ended up being a very a interesting week for my picks with my only win coming with the Ravens beating the Jets in their home opener. My other 3 picks I made picking the Vikings, Lions, and Eagles were marred with injuries.
The Vikings were missing Sidney Rice and his ability to stretch the field. Matt Stafford separated a shoulder for the Lions and Kevin Kolb went out with a concussion for the Eagles. That pretty much summed up my week of picks.
Moving on the week 2 the first game up has Tom Brady leading his Patriots into the New Meadow Lands to play the J.E.T.S Jets, Jets, Jets. Last week I picked the Ravens to top the Jets but this week I am leaning towards the Jets to beat up on the Patriots.
The Jets have to get back on track and what better team to beat than the Brady, “I hate the Jets.”, lead team. If the Jets loose 2 in a row at the beginning of the season the chance of them make the playoffs, let alone play in the Super Bowl, becomes an uphill battle and Rex Ryan will have none of that.
The big question is Sanchez, will he try pushing the ball down the field to open the underneath routes and get the running game on track? Or will he be Captain Check Down again this week? If he can and the Revis lead defense can clamp down on the Patriots passing game the Jets will be 1-1.
Prediction: New England Patriots 17 New York Jets 20
Game #2: New York Giants @ Indianapolis Colts
The Manning Bowl brings with it a Colts team that is licking its wounds from a thorough beating by the Texans and a Giants team that had a big win over an always competitive Carolina Panthers.
The Colts Defense seemingly cannot stop the run and with a potential season ending injury to Bob Sanders needs to do a lot of tweaking to get this defense back into shape. But on the flip side of the coin, the Giants didn’t blow the doors off the Panthers with their run game.
Eli Manning had a very efficient game last week verses the Panthers throwing and completing 20 of 30 with 3 TDs but he also threw 3 interceptions as well.
Expect the Colts Defense do better against the run and help Payton lead his team to victory. The Colts will not start the season out 0-2.
Prediction: New York Giants 17 – Indianapolis Colts 27
Game #3: Miami Dolphins @ Minnesota Vikings
In Week 1 Brett Favre looked out of sync with his receivers and the Defense looked OK at best verses the Saints.
The Dolphins won a game that they expected to win verses Buffalo in Week 1 but this week they are going into a very loud environment against a team much better than Buffalo.
Expect Minnesota’s Defense to stiffen this week and get to Chad Henne and also expect the Viking Offense to look much better having 10 days to work out the kinks for their 1st game.
I am a big Chad Henne fan but this week the Dolphins just don’t have enough.
Prediction: Miami Dolphins 14 Minnesota Vikings 24
Game #4: Chicago Bears @ Dallas Cowboys
I think this could be the most interesting game of the weekend with Chicago now running the best show on turf, kind of, and a lot of peoples pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this year in Dallas.
Chicago’s Offense hasn’t hit the Mike Martz coached stride yet but should be better and the Defense has always dangerous Julius Pepper and Brian Urlacher ready to strike. Look for the Chicago Defense to have a field day with the awful Dallas Offensive Line and for Romo to spend a great deal of time on his backside.
With the Cowboy’s coaching staff bickering with one another over the play calling and the Offense not looking in sink there is a good possibility that another loss is on the horizon and in fact it will be. The Defense lead by DeMarcus Ware will keep them in the game but it won’t be enough.
Prediction: Chicago Bears 25 Dallas Cowboys 17
With last week’s hot mess I am 1-3 for the season but feel confident that I will rebound. Best of luck with your picks this weekend and hopefully the team you has a great weekend.
