Week 2 NFL predictions and picks come from Week 2 of the NFL schedule. Week 2 NFL predictions and picks begin with an amazing game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets on Sunday, September 19. The Patriots are out to show that they are still the best team in the AFC East, and the Jets are coming off a very tough loss to Baltimore on Monday night that could give them nightmares for the rest of the season.
There is also a great Sunday night game for NBC, as the Manning brothers will face off on national television. The New York Giants head to Indianapolis to play a Colts team that was embarrassed in week 1 of the NFL season by the Houston Texans. They need to get over that loss and focus on these Giants, because the Colts defense does not want to fall asleep on Eli Manning. If they do, he has the potential to really tear them apart.
The week 2 Monday night football game is interesting because it puts the New Orleans Saints back in the national spotlight, but also because it is a must-win game for the San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco was absolutely crushed by the Seattle Seahawks in week 1, and don’t want to start the season 0-2. That would be a big hole to try and dig themselves out of, but opponents don’t come any tougher than the New Orleans Saints right now.
The Baltimore vs. Cincinnati game will have a lot of importance when it comes to the 2010 AFC North standings, and the Bengals are going to have to work really hard to not start their own season 0-2. The Baltimore Ravens are playing spectacular defense right now, so we may be hearing some of the doom and gloom coming out of that locker room if Carson Palmer can’t find a way to come up with a miracle showing on Sunday.
For many of the teams in the NFL, the week 2 schedule provides a week to get one of those hard-to-find wins, as some of the (perceived) worst teams in the league will be playing each other. Somebody has to win the Tampa Bay vs. Carolina game as well as the Kansas City vs. Cleveland game. That St. Louis vs. Oakland game could end in a tie and we wouldn’t be surprised at all. Other games would take huge upsets for the favorite not to win, and we fully expect teams like the Green Bay Packers to easily get a win this time around.
Out of all these games, the toughest one to predict could be Philadelphia vs. Detroit. Who will the quarterbacks be in this game? Kevin Kolb has a concussion for the Eagles, and Matthew Stafford could be out for several weeks with a shoulder injury.
