Week 5 – TE Rankings
1. Antonio Gates – SD = @Oak
The truth and nothing but the truth, there really is no competition between Gates and this #1 TE ranking. Gates is the best fantasy football TE in the league right now. Period. Stats in the range of 50-100 receiving yards can nearly be considered money in the bank, and a touchdown is always possible as well.
2. Dallas Clark – Ind = KC
After Antonio Gates, the next guaranteed thing in the fantasy football TE world, is that Dallas Clark and Jermichael Finley should be considered the unquestioned next best options. And in my mind, Clark and Finley are essentially interchangeable at this point for the #2 ranking. 50-100 receiving yards and 1 touchdown is easily within reach.
3. Jermichael Finley – GB = @Was
See Dallas Clark. As a premier red zone target in the Packers offense, Finley is an excellent bet to tally a touchdown this week, as well as anything in the 50-100 receiving yard range.
4. Tony Gonzalez – Atl = @Cle
Easily the second passing option for Matt Ryan after Roddy White, Gonzalez could be looking at an excellent stat day in this game against the Browns. 50-100 receiving yards and 1 touchdown is well within reach for Gonzalez.
5. Zach Miller – Oak = SD
As long as Bruce Gradkowski continues to be the starting QB in Oakland, Miller should continue to put up WR like stats. 50-100 receiving yards is almost a guaranteed bet, and a touchdown is possible as well.
6. Chris Cooley – Was = GB
As usual, the Packers defense just struggles covering tight ends, which was once again evident as they allowed Brandon Pettigrew and Tony Scheffler to combine for a ridiculous 14 receptions and 154 receiving yards last week. So with that note, Cooley seems like a great bet to tally something in the range of 50-100 receiving yards, with a touchdown possible as well.
7. Vernon Davis – SF = Phi
The offense in San Francisco is a complete disaster right now, and until it gets cleaned up, Davis will continue to have a hard time being an elite fantasy football TE option week in and week out. However Davis still offers plenty of potential, and with a matchup at home, Alex Smith could have an easier day throwing the ball. 50-75 receiving yards is likely, and a touchdown is a 50-50 toss up.
8. Kellen Winslow – TB = @Cin
With shutdown corners Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph covering the WRs, Winslow will likely be Josh Freeman’s first, second, and third look in the passing game this week. Expect Winslow to be Tampa Bay’s leading receiver in this game, with stats likely in the range of 5-10 receptions for 50-100 receiving yards.
9. Visanthe Shiancoe – Min = @NYJ
If anyone is going to be catching balls from Favre in this game, Shiancoe is the most likely guy. 50-75 receiving yards is possible.
10. Jason Witten – Dal = Ten / injury ?
Witten’s concussion is not likely to be an issue for his playing time in this game, but his stat production just is not a sure thing.
11. Dustin Keller – NYJ = Min
