Week 7 – QB Rankings

1. Drew Brees – NO = Cle
With Peyton Manning on a bye and Aaron Rodgers facing a tough Minnesota defense, Brees finally sees his first ranking of the season as the #1 fantasy football QB starter this week. A matchup at home against the Cleveland Browns could have Brees eyeing 300 passing yards and 2-3 touchdowns.

2. Aaron Rodgers – GB = Min
Extremely tough matchup for the Packers struggling offensive line, but if they can give Rodgers enough protection and time to throw the ball, then the stats could easily pile up for Rodgers in this game. Also, playing in Green Bay helps Rodgers potential this week as well. 250-300 passing yards, 1-2 touchdowns.

3. Joe Flacco – Bal = Buf
After several solid weeks of play, Flacco should be gaining the trust of fantasy football teams. With a matchup against the Buffalo Bills, who have been one of the worst defenses in the NFL this season by allowing a league worst 32 points per game so far this year, Flacco and the Ravens offense should be ready to tee off this week. So as long as Ray Rice and the running game does not take too many yards and touchdowns away from the passing game, then Flacco should be looking at stats in the range of 250-300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.

4. Philip Rivers – SD = NE
Realistically, Philip Rivers’ overall fantasy football potential this week rests on the health of Antonio Gates and Malcom Floyd. If at least one of those two guys is healthy enough to play, then Rivers is a top 5 fantasy football QB option this week. If both Gates and Floyd are healthy and playing in this game, then Rivers is an easy top 3 fantasy QB this week. If neither Gates nor Floyd are available to play in this game, then Rivers drops to around the #10 spot among fantasy football QBs this week. 250 passing yards and 1-2 touchdowns, but higher or lower stats can be expected depending on the availability of Gates and Floyd.

5. Kevin Kolb – Phi = @Ten
Hitting on all cylinders last week, Kolb is absolutely worthy of a starting spot in all fantasy football leagues this week. And on a side note, Kolb played just as well even after DeSean Jackson left the game with an injury. In other words, even if Jackson does not play in this game, Kolb is still an excellent starting QB option for fantasy football teams, as he still has three excellent playmakers in Jeremy Maclin, Brent Celek and LeSean McCoy to pass the ball to. 250 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.

6. Kyle Orton – Den = Oak
While the presence of Tim Tebow in the red zone is frustrating for Orton fantasy owners, the truth remains that Orton can still put up stats in the 250-300 passing yard range in this game. Add in the fact that the Oakland defense which just got picked apart by Alex Smith, yeah that’s right Alex Smith of all QBs, in last weeks game, could lead to big things for Orton in this game.

7. Tom Brady – NE = @SD
Tough matchup for Brady this week as he faces the Chargers #1 overall rated pass defense that has allowed an average of just 163 passing yards per game. Playing in San Diego does not exactly help either.

8. Tony Romo – Dal = NYG
With the Cowboys running game struggling, Romo should once again be relied upon heavily for the Cowboys offensive yards in this game. Playing in Dallas should help.

9. Ben Roethlisberger – Pit = @Mia
After a decent first game of the season last week for Roethlisberger, another step forward is likely in this game.

10. Donovan McNabb – Was = @Chi
Not a great matchup for McNabb, but after seeing Matt Hasselbeck put up decent stats last week against the Chicago defense, McNabb could do surprisingly well in this game. Add in a weak running game if Ryan Torain has to miss any playing time with injury, and McNabb could be looking at throwing a lot of passes in this game.

11. Eli Manning – NYG = @Dal
Nothing special here.

12. Matt Cassel – KC = Jac
Much like last week, Cassel is an excellent spot starter at QB for fantasy teams this week.

13. Matt Ryan – Atl = Cin
Tough matchup for Ryan and the Falcons passing attack as they will go up against two of the best cornerbacks in the game in the Bengals Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph.

14. Jay Cutler – Chi = Was
Until the Bears offensive line gets healthy and starts blocking, Cutler will remain a risky fantasy football starter. Yep the upside and potential for big time passing stats is definitely there.

15. Brett Favre – Min = @GB
The elbow tendentious seems to be catching up to Favre at this point. But a return to Green Bay could make Favre play out of his mind in this game.

16. Matt Hasselbeck – Sea = Ari
With an offensive line that is finally getting healthy and giving Hasselbeck some time in the pocket, another useful game could be in store for fantasy football teams this week from Hasselbeck if they need a spot starter.

17. Sam Bradford – StL = @TB
Excellent matchup for Bradford and the Rams offense this week. Bradford could easily perform surprisingly well and put up stats in the range of 250 passing yards and 1-2 touchdowns.

18. Josh Freeman – TB = StL

19. Carson Palmer – Cin = @Atl

20. Alex Smith – SF = @Car
Amid all the controversy with his head coach, Smith has actually been putting up decent stats over the past two weeks. Decent spot starter option if you need him.

21. Chad Henne – Mia = Pit
22. Colt McCoy – Cle = @NO
23. Max Hall – Ari = @Sea
24. Ryan Fitzpatrick – Buf = @Bal
25. Matt Moore – Car = SF

26. Kerry Collins – Ten = Phi
27. Jason Campbell – Oak = @Den / injury ?
28. Trent Edwards – Jac = @KC
29. David Garrard – Jac = @KC / injury ? – unlikely to play
30. Bruce Gradkowski – Oak = @Den / injury ? – unlikely to play

31. Vince Young – Ten = Phi / injury ? – unlikely to play
32. Tim Tebow – Den = Oak
33. Jimmy Clausen – Car = SF
34. Michael Vick – Phi = @Ten – injury ? – unlikely to play

BYE WEEK
Peyton Manning – Ind = BYE
Matt Schaub – Hou = BYE
Mark Sanchez – NYJ = BYE
Matthew Stafford – Det = BYE
Shaun Hill – Det = BYE
