The beginning of September marked the return of Car-free Sundays to Myrtle Avenue. Each Sunday during the month there is a different type of event taking place around the neighborhoods to support the Department of Transportation’s “Weekend Walks” program.
Each week features different activities and events for children and adults to participate in, such as the bike/scooter/big wheel parade that will take place on Sept. 26 from Hall to Clermont. There will be many more bike-themed programs to attend throughout that day, as well. Each walk is an opportunity for people of the community to get together and find out new and exciting things about the neighborhoods they live in. These walks are all organized by the Myrtle merchants and local community groups.
You can even get involved in the activities yourself by submitting an activity or game to Meredity@myrtleavenue.org and your idea could be incorporated into the day’s events. Move about Myrtle is all about trying to get the people in Clinton Hill to become more educated, both physically and artistically. So, stop by Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill this weekend and get in on the fun. The events begin around noon and run until 6 p.m.
