I have a tendency to automatically assume because it’s food it’s going to be amazing, so long as it falls in my taste category. As such, I am typically willing to try random snacks that don’t usually go together just because – why not? If I come down with food poisoning or yack up my snack 10 minutes after wolfing it down, at least I got to try something “new.” Here is a small list of odd snacks that I have found to be absolutely delicious.
Oreos with peanut butter on them. Chunky is best, but to each their own.
Toast with mayonnaise on it instead of butter. I can eat half a loaf of bread when it’s toasted with mayo slathered all over it.
Apples with sliced cheese on top. Simply delicious, and the only time I eat “fake” cheese.
A banana, orange, and carrot blended together and poured in a bowl. This is the only way I will eat fruit most of the time, and it tastes really great and pulpy.
Coffee in your cereal instead of milk. Add a regular amount of milk to your coffee and pour it over any cereal (in my experience, chocolate cereals are best, but pour it over whatever cereal you like). Also, instead of drinking the leftover milk, pour it into your coffee for a yummy treat.
Cactus in scrambled eggs. Don’t know why, but it’s really, really good.
A cooked, unpeeled banana in the microwave for about a minute. Split the banana open with a fork and enjoy. it tastes like banana pudding and is really great!
French fries dipped in ice cream (I know many people who do this, so it’s not really that weird), or french fries dipped in mustard, barbecue sauce, or sour cream. Yum!
Apple slices or grapes dipped in Ranch dressing. Basically, any fruit (except bananas and citrus fruits) dipped in Ranch dressing. It’s surprisingly good.
Marshmallows melted in the microwave for about 18 seconds or so until soft. Eat with a fork.
Potato chips dipped in melted chocolate, or potato chips with warm peanut butter (once again, go chunky). Potato chips should be plain, but if you want to be adventurous, go for other flavors.
Doritos with salsa. This one isn’t that weird either, but most people just use plain corn chips for their salsa fiesta so I figured I would toss it out there.
Baby food. I love baby food, particularly the fruity kinds. Baby cereal is great as well. No wonder babies look so happy all the time- their food is awesome! Those little baby puff treats and dehydrated fruit snacks for teething babies are just great.
Uh…breast milk anyone? I love breast milk – it’s delicious in everything. A rare treat, but jump on it if you get a hold of any for your coffee, tea, cereal, or just drink it plain.
Cream of Wheat on toast. The chocolate Cream of Wheat on toast is great as well.
Toast dipped in hot chocolate. This was my favorite snack when I was a kid. Toast with butter on it, not toast with mayo.
Fruit snacks dipped in milk, or fruit snacks dropped in milk for fruity milk and chewy fruit snacks. Also, cookies crumbled into milk until you have a paste that you can eat with a spoon or drink like a thick milkshake. You can fit about 6 cookies in a glass of milk to get the thickness you want, and it’s really good.
My favorite weird snack of all time? Cake mix- simply take your favorite cake mix, pour some in a cup, and add water only until you get the consistency you want (I like it so thick the spoon can stand straight up on its own). Eat, enjoy, and go back for seconds or thirds. This is my sister’s favorite treat as well, and she has to hid in her dorm room to eat it so her roommates don’t know what she’s doing. She’s a closet cake mix eater, poor thing.
Biscuit mix, cornbread mix, and pancake mix are a lot of people’s snacks of choice as well, so be proud of your batter consumption!
