The next change in the evolving Wendy’s fast food restaurants will come to their french fries. Although the fries will still come to the stores frozen, Wendy’s is going for a more natural french fry. Their new fries will come with the potato skin still on them and will have sea salt instead of regular salt. The skinnier, crispier fries would come from Russett potatoes. Wendy’s continues to try to separate itself from the likes of McDonald’s and Burger King and stand on its own in the fast food market. Wendy’s has attempted this process with two steps to their approach.
1. Give the customer options
If you want a value meal at McDonald’s, you get french fries. If you go to Burger King, you can choose fries or opt for onion rings. For those feeling like they want a few more choices, Wendy’s is the fast food joint to go to. When you get a value meal there, you get to choose between fries, chili, a baked potato, a salad or a squeeze yogurt. Surely there is a good option there for even the pickiest of people.
They now offer their popular Frostys in not only chocolate, but also vanilla. You can even choose to blend in goodies like Oreos.
In addition to the chicken nuggets they have on their 99-cent value menu, they now have boneless wings. The boneless wings are offered in Honey BBQ, Buffalo and Sweet & Spicy.
2. Make the food more natural and therefore, seem healthier
The change to a more all-natural french fry is the second move in that direction for Wendy’s. As of April 1st of 2010,Wendy’s offer four real salads; Apple Pecan Chicken, BLT Cobb, Baja and Spicy Chicken Caesar. Wendy’s advertises the salads as being real. They are handmade everyday and come with fresh ingredients straight from the fields according to the chain’s advertising. That very well might be true, but be warned just because they have fresh ingredients and are salads, doesn’t make them the healthiest thing in the world for you as is documented in this article.
Wendy’s new fries have more in common with their salads than just being part of their new approach of being a more nature-oriented fast food chain. Like the salads, the fries might come with a whole new naturalness, but they are just as bad for you as the old Wendy’s fries were. The new fries actually have ten additional calories for a medium-size serving.
