Buffalo International Film Festival – runs Friday, October 1st through Sunday, October 10th at theaters throughout the Buffalo area. Opening night feature is Temple Grandin at the Market Arcade Film and Arts Center. Buffalo Local Restaurant Week – Monday, October 4th through Sunday, October 10th at more than 150 restaurants throughout Buffalo and its suburbs. Area restaurants offer up special meal deals for $20.10. Harvest Festival – Friday, October 15th at 6 p.m. at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo. The tenth annual festival, presented by the Buffalo Bills, will feature wine tasting, gourmet dinner, silent and live auctions, and live music. Ballpark Brew Bash – Saturday, October 16th from 2 to 6 p.m. at Coca Cola Field in downtown Buffalo. Haunted Fortress – Saturday, October 16th and Saturday, October 23rd at Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown. The annual Halloween event features a tour of the Fort’s haunted history. Carrousel Spooktacular – Friday, October 22nd at the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, 180 Thompson St. in North Tonawanda, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This non-scary Halloween event features games, crafts, treats, and a show from the Wondermakers, “Stories from the Pumpkin Patch,” at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 for children, $2 for adults. Shake, Rattle, and Roll – Saturday, October 30th at Ilio DiPaolo’s, 3785 South Park Ave. in Blasdell. STORM’s Halloween fundraiser will benefit the Orthopaedic Division of Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. The evening includes dinner, dancing, apple bobbing, silent auctions, basket raffles, and a Halloween costume contest.
