First off, experiment. It is always fun to create new looks with the wide variety of color shades on the market today. You might find a look that compliments you really well.
Not into experimenting? A few basic tips to help you get started:
Know Your Skin Color
This is probably one of the most difficult areas for me. I am light skin with rosy undertones but due to some health issues, some days I look darker than others. It is very frustrating. Also, when you tan or are just outside for a little bit, your skin color will change so take that into consideration.
Skin colors range from fair to a deep dark. Fair skin usually has hints of pink, especially around the cheek area. Beige skin has a yellow tone with peach highlights. Golden skin is a nice tan with yellowish undertones. Bronze skin is a deep tan with hints of green or sometimes red. Deep skin is a brown shade with hints of red.
There are variances amongst all of these. If you still have trouble deciding enlist your friends for their opinion.
Now for your hair color. Easy enough but this does factor into what will look the best on you.
Deep Skin Color
Since you do have dark coloring bold colors will work for you. Just don’t go overboard. Either accentuate your eyes or your lips with a bold color. Don’t do both. Navy and darker purples work great, as well as corals and reds.
Golden Skin Color
With your sun-kissed features a cosmetic palette of mauves and peaches will look great on you. They work well with yellow undertones and will brighten up your features.
Fair Skin Color
Grays will make your eyes stand out, as well as blues, greens and purples. Stick with light pinks and corals to complete the look.
Bronze Skin Color
You have the glowing skin but adding bronze-based shades, warm pinks and even some purples will make you really stand out.
Beige Skin Color
Achieve a warm, glowing face by mixing it up with shades of bronze, copper and medium-shade plums.
The main key to remember is to try out different shades. One shade of brown may be too overwhelming for you. Try mixing it up and come up with a fabulous look to call your own.
