From 2004 to 2007, Drake Bell starred in the Nickelodeon TV series Drake & Josh. So what ever happened to him? What has he been doing since Drake & Josh went off the air?
Drake Bell’s first big gig after Drake & Josh was his starring role in the 2008 comedy “Superhero Movie,” in which he played the Peter-Parker-like main character, who turns into a Spiderman-like superhero. In 2008 he also starred in a made-for-TV reunion show, “Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh.” 2008 was a very busy year, in which he also appeared in “College,” a lesser-known comedy. He has several movie projects forthcoming, including a production role with “The Miracle of Santa Rosa,” an acting role in the mini-series “Flying Tigers,” and an acting role in the move version of Nickelodeon’s “The Fairly Odd Parents.” As if his schedule were not busy enough, he has also been recording some music. So will Drake Bell make the tricky transition from child star to adult star? It looks like the answer is a likely “yes,” although he continues to be strongly associated with children’s television, especially Nickelodeon. As he continues to experiment with production, rather than acting, he might shift more in that direction, as well. Directing shows for Nickelodeon would seem like an obvious career path for him, although it is unclear whether that is the direction he wants to go.
As you know, child stars have their troubles. Think, for example, of the dismal post-stardom lives of the stars of Diff’rent Strokes (Todd Bridges, Gary Coleman, and Dana Plato).
