So there you are, on a warm sunny morning drinking your favorite cup of coffee and relaxing in front of your pc. What’s better than browsing among your favorite applications, looking at your news feed and clearing up your invitations? But, suddenly, a new notification pops up; a friend request! You click on it and wait anxiously to see who your new fan is. But suddenly, the photo and name wipes the smile off your face. Why did it have to be him? Even the flash backs of your life with him make you want to scream. How did he find you? Why didn’t you make your profile invisible to public searches? But wait, why just not ignore him? What will happen if you do?
First of all, by clicking on the ‘Ignore’ tab saves you from having to see his face again. Even in a small picture. All that is left is just a line informing you that you have just ignored the friend request. No harm done! He cannot look at your pictures, post in your wall or view your Facebook activity. And most important, he will not get notified that you actually ignored him. So you simply move on with your life trying not to think of what just happened.
But what about him? Well, sooner or later, he will find out that you have ignored his request. Give him a couple of days and he will be back. But this time, probably with a personal note attached. You see, he is just happy to find you here and just wanted to drop by and say hi! But, you know this is not the deal. You know him very well and people do not change that easy. So you choose to ignore the request again.
He comes back but this time, angry and displeased of your behavior. Now, his personal note is not that polite nor too courteous. He wants to know why you are acting like this, what is up with you and as it seems, getting older makes you a true witch.
There is only one thing left for you to do; block him. Now! Take a deep breath and click on the ‘Account’ tab on the top right corner of the page. Click on the ‘Privacy Settings’ option and then on ‘Edit your Lists’ just under the beautiful ‘Block Lists’ header. Wait for a few seconds for the page to load and type his name or email address to the corresponding boxes. After you are done, click on the ‘Block this User’ option and you are done! He will no longer be able to contact you or even find you in Facebook’s search engine.
And now, it is high time to change your privacy setting. Facebook developers pay extra attention to protecting your personal info and life offering you easy and quick ways to shut the door to unwanted users. Just click on the ‘Privacy Settings’ tab and manage your available options. Hopefully, this will be the last incident.
