There are several ebook readers for sale on Black Friday 2010, but which store is offering the best value? Since most stores only have limited quantities during the doorbuster hours, there isn’t time to do comparison shopping on Black Friday. Shoppers need to make their buying choices before the After Thanksgiving sales begin.
Best Buy will sell the Barnes and Noble Nook for $99 on Black Friday, and although there are other ereaders that are under $100 during Black Friday, the B&N Nook is the best choice for your money. Walmart is selling the Sony Reader PRS-300 for $99, but it doesn’t have wi-fi access like the Nook. Other ereaders do not have direct access to a major bookstore from the device, but the Nook does. Also the Nook has Lend Me, which allows Nook owners to share Nookbooks with other users. If you don’t know anyone with a Nook, you can join the Nook Facebook page and find people who are willing to lend books for two weeks. The basic version of the Nook is barebones compared to Nookcolor and Nook 3G, but it is the best Black Friday ereader bargain.
If Amazon has a $99 Kindle wi-fi to compete with the Barnes and Noble Nook wi-fi, the Kindle would be the better choice of the two ebook reader. The Kindle 3 is regular price, so check Amazon early on Thanksgiving (or follow the Amazon.com Black Friday Twitter feed) and if the price is over $99, go to Best Buy and hope to be one of the lucky ticket holders to get a Nook. There will be a minimum of 10 Nooks at each participating Barnes and Noble store.
