One of my favorite recipes is this spicy cabbage meal. It is a nice break from all of the hard to digest foods we consume on a daily basis. It replenishes your system. In doing so you would think it would have to be bland. On the contrary. This recipe has a punch of spiciness to it that makes it so enjoyable. While good for your stomach, the spices will clear out your sinuses as well. You will feel so refreshed after eating this meal that you and your family will want to eat this over and over.
1 large crock pot
Spatula or spoon.
2 heads of cabbage
1 lb. Of hot sausage
1 15 oz can of diced tomatoes (optional)
Salt and Pepper to taste.
Brown your sausage in a skillet being sure to break it up into small pieces.
Take the outer leaves off of the cabbage and discard.
With a sharp knife, cut slices from front to back of the cabbage. You will be left with ribbons of cabbage. You can
further chop but I find this is sufficient because of the crock pot methods ability to soften and break up the cabbage further.
Discard the core of the cabbage.
Place all of this sliced cabbage into your large crock pot.
Add the cooked sausage over the top.
Place the can of tomatoes over top of that (optional, its just as good without).
Cover with distilled water to above the entire meal. The Cabbage will soak up the water as it cooks to a point. The rest will turn into juices for the meal.
Salt and Pepper.
Cook on High for 12 hrs. then turn to warm. I put mine on to cook before bed and dinner is ready when I am ready to eat.
Eat and Enjoy!
