Say what you want about Kate Winslet and her role as Rose in “Titanic,” she was just as captivating as Leonardo DiCaprio in that epic film. Sure, I may not have noticed while busy crying over the death of Jack Dawson but I grew to respect, adore and love Kate Winslet’s acting and career choices. If I find a lull in the entertainment world, I know that I can always turn to a Winslet film and the “lull” moment passes.
The last Kate Winslet I saw was the drama-filled “Revolutionary Road.” Winslet played Leonardo DiCaprio’s wife, April Wheeler. The movie was directed by Winslet’s ex-husband, Sam Mendes. Although the movie is a two hours filled of DiCaprio and Winslet yelling, screaming and arguing with each other – I will watch it whenever it comes on any movie channel. There is something so captivating about Winslet’s performance in this movie that I cannot get enough of. Her anger is in some strange way, inspiring and beautiful to watch. Her character is so incredibly passionate that you cannot help but feel that there is some part of Winslet truly wrapped in April Wheeler.
Perhaps one of my favorite Winselt movies is “The Reader.” The film was a quiet kind of powerful and stayed with me for days. He affair with a young law student becomes so much more complicated as he discovers her true identity and the relationship that flourishes thereafter. Again, Winslet showcases a quiet strength that overwhelms me and never ceases to amaze me. How can one person possess this much talent and beauty without overdoing it? The movie tells a touching story that no one but Winselt could pull it off.
Later this year (no specific date is provided on www.imdb.com), an untitled comedy will be released that will be a compiled of short comedy segments. The case includes Emma Stone, Chloe Moretz and Gerard Butler. If you have seen Winslet in the comedy series, “Extras” on HBO, then you know she is a natural when it comes to making the viewer laugh.
Currently, she is filming “Contagion,” which will be released next year on October 21, 2011. The movie stars Matt Damon, Marion Cottillard and Gwyneth Paltrow. The movie is an action-thriller about doctors attempting to prevent the outbreak of a deadly disease.
No matter Winslet’s choice in movie, she is a thrill to watch and makes it look effortless. A talent like hers is one to be cherished and this fan is excited to see what she adds to her resume next.
