Three short weeks ago, we as Giant fans, were filled with hopes and dreams. We saw Eli throwing for 300 plus yards every week. The tandem of Jacobs and Bradshaw running through opposing defenses. The defense aided by Bullock and Rolle shutting down the guys on the other side of the ball. Well three weeks into the season, what do we have? Yes, we have Eli throwing for 300 plus yards. We also have an offense that turns the ball over faster than if they were being asked for their watch at gun point. Jacobs throwing his helmet into the stands. Offensive linemen getting unsportsmanlike calls against them by acting like drunks in a bar looking for a fight. A defense that can’t stop any drive it seems. But perhaps most disturbing is the lack of discipline and focus. This team is coached by Tom Coughlin isn’t it? The guy brought in to instill discipline and accountability.Yes, problem may be however, this isn’t the same Tom Coughlin. A few years ago all we heard was how tough he is.
When you’re on time to a meeting you are really five minutes late. The players demanded respect, they didn’t want to be treated like children. I’ve got news for you Giant players, my three year old acts better than most of you. He knows you don’t run after someone and then push them from behind. He knows you don’t pull something off another one’s head. And he surely knows you don’t throw something(a helmet) out of anger when someone else could get hurt. I think we saw both Brandon Jacobs and Kareem McKenzie get time outs from Tom Coughlin, but they need so much more. I hope in the coming weeks I start to hear grumblings about the coach from the players. I hope I see fines and maybe even suspensions. When they stop acting like children, spoiled children at that, maybe we can get back to winning some games.
The Giants are a very talented team, on paper. However paper is a very easily disposed of item, it can easily be burned. Especially when you provide the gas and flame. The NFC East is a very ,very good division. The Cowboys are always a threat to win, the Redskins now have Donovan, and the Eagles have Vick, who looks better than ever. There will be no easy victories in this division, let alone this league. Games will not be won by spoiled children who think they can just show up and win. Tom Coughlin needs to lay down the law now. If the players don’t like it , get rid of them. The old Tom was tough, but he won. He won because he knew if you weren’t focused during the week you wouldn’t be focused during the game. If you can’t handle a 70 year old coach yelling at you, what will you do when a 300 pounder comes your way? Lay down. I’m gonna root for Tom Coughlin to return to his old form, maybe just maybe, then I can start cheering for the Giants again.
