I previously published a series of “spirits” in each of our fifty states. You can check out Colorado here. I have discovered some information now covering “haunted hotels” in various places. I enjoy finding the information, and making poetry from it. I am in no way trying to convince anyone of the existence, or nonexistence of “spirits”. According to my source, these places do exist.
In Estes Park Colorado stands the Stanley Hotel
Room 217 Stephen King knew well
In this room, “The Shining” got its start
Inspired by The Stanley, written from the heart
In room four eighteen -empty or not
Children can be heard playing a lot
They’ve been heard by cleaning crews
Laughing and playing like children do
Some guests have left during the night
Because of the sounds, they left in fright
They heard children playing in the hallways
But not one child had checked in the place.
The previous owner, Lord Dunraven
Sometimes stays in room 407
In the corner, Dunraven just stands
Perhaps he misses owning this land.
If you’re in Colorado with nothing to do
You might travel to 333 Wonderview,
The Stanley Hotel really has style..
If you don’t mind children, stay a while.
