Many young adults don’t cook in their kitchens – spaghettios, Ramen, and take-out are the most common sights in students’ and young professionals’ kitchens. Even when you eat take-out, however, you still need the basics – bowls, utensils, cups, etc. If you’re not interested in paying top dollar for kitchen gadgets, but you need a few inexpensive options to get you through, below are a few stores that have great selections of inexpensive kitchen items.
Kohl’s relationship with Food Network has helped them launch their kitchen section into the ranks of the best. Known for being discount (with almost everything always on sale), Kohl’s has great quality kitchen gadgets with the Food Network brand name on them. If you’re looking for selection and unique gadgets for an upcoming party, Kohl’s is most likely the best place to look. For relatively inexpensive dutch ovens or appetizer display plates, Kohl’s Food Network products will impress guests (and your parents).
Target has the best selection of inexpensive kitchen utensils and gadgets during the summer as they market these items to college students. The best time to find the plastic cups and bowls is between June and September. (By September, they’ll probably be on clearance and you’ll be able to get them even cheaper!) Target’s selection is often colorful and girly – if you’re looking for plain and boring, Target probably isn’t the best place to find these items. Year round, Target has inexpensive kitchen gadgets, from can openers to potato peelers, in their regular kitchen section.
As with most products, Wal-Mart will have inexpensive and lower quality versions of Target products. If you’re really watching your budget, you might want to purchase your kitchen items at Wal-Mart, but you will pay later once they break and you must re-purchase.
Ikea’s kitchen collections are simple and modern yet inexpensive. If you’re looking for simple essentials – like one saucepot or a set of plain silver utensils, Ikea is the place to go. All of Ikea’s kitchen items are no frills, but they get the job done.
Williams Sonoma & Le Creuset Outlet Locations
Williams Sonoma and Le Creuset are obviously incredibly high quality and expensive brands when it comes to kitchen utensils. If you have a little bit more money to spend and are looking for products that are heirloom quality, check for kitchen products at the outlet locations. They will still be high quality and a little bit more expensive, but you’ll be able to find great deals .
