For months WWE Raw has been run by a mysterious General Manager, a man sending email messages through WWE Raw announcer Michael Cole.
There are a number of possibilities as to who the new General Manager could be and while are some are more favorable than others, eventually someone has to step forward and claim their position.
Here is a look at the five best candidates for the role of the WWE Raw General Manager.
Stone Cold Steve Austin: Austin has not appeared in the WWE since early 2010 and his return would have wrestling fans buzzing.
Austin always brings a great attitude to the WWE ring and he has played the general manager role on numerous occasions. With WWE Raw rated PG, he would have to tone down a little bit, but would still provide the old school interviews and promos that fans love.
Austin would also be able to get “hands-on” with his manager job as he provides Stone Cold Stunners to anyone who disagrees.
Chris Jericho: After losing to Randy Orton and “quitting” the WWE, his secret as the General Manager would make perfect sense.
Jericho’s transformation into the business suit, serious heel wrestler makes him the perfect role as General Manager. Fans would love to hate him and eventually he’ll return to the ring for some more breath-taking moments.
Jericho has some of the best microphone skills to take on the role and can provide great storyline moments with a number of wrestlers.
Shane McMahon: It has been a long time since Shane McMahon has been a regular on WWE programming and it’s time for him to return. Instead of seeing Vince rule over WWE Raw every week, it would be nice for his son to take charge.
McMahon knows how to control the show and he can also wrestler if he needs to. Memorable bouts with Test, Kurt Angle, and Kane have showed that Shane has what it takes to be a wrestler and a leader on WWE Raw.
Shawn Michaels: The retirement of Shawn Michaels has left a huge hole on the WWE Raw roster and fans would always be welcome to the “Heartbreak Kid’s Return”. Back in 1999 and 2000 Shawn Michaels was the WWE general manager and he helped guide several storylines.
Even if he does not wrestler again, seeing him in a ring and hearing some promos will help ignite fans. He can once again interact with Triple H and infuse feuds and storylines within the WWE. Something new could even happen between him and Bret “The Hitman” Hart.
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper: Piper is one of the best talkers in the WWE ring and many of his memorable moments have been on the microphone. When Piper was not in charge, he still acted like he was and his confidence would him a perfect fit as a WWE General Manager.
Recently, he has had more health problems, but a minimal role would still make for great television and new moments between the legend and rookie WWE stars.
WWE Raw airs Mondays on USA at 9 PM ET.
