Who won Dancing With the Stars 2010? Most thought that revealing who won Dancing With the Stars 2010 would bring out anger and partisanship. After all, the week before the finals had someone shoot a gun at the TV, and someone else send a white powder to the studio. If all that could happen because Bristol Palin made the final, what might happen if she actually won? However, when they showed who won Dancing With the Stars after all, the nation was still standing.
Since the results weren’t revealed until the end of the two-hour finale, anxiety was high much of the night. Even though Jennifer Grey had been perfect on Monday, and in the first routine last night, some viewers were convinced that it wouldn’t be enough.
If Grey was the one who won Dancing With the Stars 2010, few would be surprised. Of course, the direct opposite reaction would happen if Palin won, as the backlash and arguing would go on well into Thanksgiving weekend. That would guarantee the biggest headlines ever for the show, but not under the best circumstances.
Frustrated viewers were already threatening to leave, if they hadn’t already. Even if Grey finally won, it might have been too little, too late, since Palin already depleted the lineup of other contenders. But at the least, a Grey victory would have stopped the bleeding a bit, while a Palin win would ensure it wouldn’t stop for months.
Of course, Kyle Massey was still around to try and split the vote. If he won Dancing With the Stars 2010, it wouldn’t inspire that much vitriol, although it would still be questionable. Since Grey was head and shoulders over him all year as well, her losing to Massey would trigger some outrage – but not on a national scale.
But in the end, the safest and most predictable choice was made. In the big picture, this finale was no different than those in the last few seasons, as the favorite won in the end. As it turned out, Palin’s rise made it that much easier for Grey to win, since she didn’t have Brandy, Audrina Patridge, Rick Fox or Kurt Warner to contend with.
As it turned out, Palin wasn’t a factor in who won Dancing With the Stars 2010 at the very end. She was the first finalist voted out, even though a Grey-Palin showdown seemed inevitable. But that turned out to be one last surprise for Season 11, although it would have the most predictable ending.
In the end, since Palin didn’t win, the show will fade back in the headlines and be left alone until Season 12. Soon enough, fans will wait for the next batch of contestants, although their fears over who might have won Dancing With the Stars this time might not be forgotten.
