I bought this Wii dance game in hopes to lose some weight and have some fun with my kids at the same time. Boy oh boy was I in for a surprise.
The Wii Just Dance video game is rated for ages 10+ but I really think the age could be lowered to age 6+. It is not a complicated game. Just follow the moves on the tv, hold the wii remote and you are all set. No dance board, balance board or Wii fit board are required which makes this game super simple for just plugging and playing immediately.
The game starts off with a warm up choice. You don’t have to do it but it is certainly suggested that you do it first because this game gets intense and you certainly don’t want to get injured.
There are over 30+ songs to dance to on this video game. Some of them are true dance classics that will make you giggle as well as wiggle.
This game works for one player and up to four players at the same time. One of the best things about this game is that we can all dance together. Believe me, there is nothing funnier than watching your friends and family try and duplicate these moves.
The work out can be pretty difficult leaving you a sweaty mess or you could choose to do an easier song. Each Wii dance song is rated by difficulty. As well as choosing the difficulty level, you may choose the long or short version. I pick the short version on Wii Just Dance when I’m not sure if I can stand the song. Thankfully, I like just about all of them.
While I think this is a great game for families, I think it could be dangerous when you play with small children because they get excited and you may knock them down accidentally. This hasn’t happened to us yet but I could definitely see it happening with all of these arms and legs flying around on our homemade dance floor.
Be absolutely sure to keep the wristband on your wrist when holding the Wii remote and dancing to Wii Just Dance. The Wii remote may fly out of your hand and hit someone in the head. I also highly recommend keeping the cushy sleeve (silicone sleeve) on the Wii remote so you don’t knock yourself or anyone else out with it.
I have incorporated this video game into my exercise routine and I am very pleased with the results. It really gets my heart pumping and I feel all of my body parts getting a great workout. While there are no weights used in this Wii game, it is a great cardiovascular exercise. If you have any conditions which prevent you from exercising, I wouldn’t play this game without discussing it with your doctor.
I spent $40 for this game at Toys R Us and it is worth every penny. This game is a real winner in our house!
