Julian Assange is rapidly becoming one of my favorite people. Assange and his extreme hacker organization, WikiLeaks, is largely changing the world, and changing how American and world politics are run. Assange and WikiLeaks next target? A major American bank (read WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange Wants to Spill Your Corporate Secrets).
In an interview with Andy Greenberg of Forbes, Assange says a major American bank will suddenly find itself turned inside out. Assange will not say which bank. Or which documents will be released, but tens of thousands of the banks internal documents will be exposed on WikiLeaks.org, and there will be no compromising between WikiLeaks and corporate executives.
I’m looking forward to this. I just wish Assange would release this in time for Christmas. He jokes with the interviewer that he needs a cute name for these massive leaks. “Megaleaks?” the Forbes interviewer suggests. Assange likes that.
Although Assange’s claim is impossible to verify, because he won’t give out any specific details, the Forbes interview is quick to say that Assange has always followed through on his promises. This promise will likely be no different.
Greenberg writes, “This is Assange: a moral ideologue, a champion of openness, a control freak.” WikiLeaks and Assange’s work is so important because it fills in the holes the American media leaves gaping. WikiLeaks fills the world in on the criminal behavior of the U.S. and world diplomats. The high-class gossip, and back-stabbing between our most respected officials. WikiLeaks shows us the criminal behavior of American forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. Assange has revealed the torture and criminal abuse of detainees and prisoners of war.
The most important asset of WikiLeaks is fear. Washington and the Pentagon fears Assange and can only condemn the damning reports that are made public worldwide. And now Corporate America needs to fear. Wall Street, beware. This is only the beginning.
WikiLeaks is regulating what Washington and the UN either can’t or won’t. And now Assange and WikiLeaks will step in where the Obama administration has largely failed. Destroying a major corporate bank from the inside out by exposing its layers of corruption.
I’m think Fight Club here, although purely with information. The major American bank will not literally blow up, but it will implode. The American public will know, it seems, with even more certainly, not only that they are vaguely being diddled and (eh hem) raped, but Americans will know how that is happening, and from a very intimate source.
Assange calls what will be revealed about the major American bank an “ecosystem of corruption.”
I’m gleeful for this. Down with the swine. If Congress won’t do it. If Obama won’t do it. WikiLeaks will. And this, again, is only the beginning. Assange has information on energy companies, pharmaceutical companies, and lots of information on the financial systems of the world.
