Classrooms today differ more than they did when we went to school. Homework consisted of basic English and arithmetic. We brought it home, did it, and got it done. Today’s standards in education have altered the way children learn and have put in place more advanced and rigorous structures for learning. Parents find themselves struggling to assist their child with assignments that are brought home. Math feels like a foreign language, directions are unclear and we as parents feel absolutely clueless when a child asks for help.
“Will Teach You” is a website that can offer a solution to your homework nightmare. This site offers free instructional videos for grades K – 12 that can assist you in certain areas of curriculum. These videos are mostly created by teachers with step by step instructions. Some of the lessons offer curriculum specific information that comes from certain name brand text books such as Holt, Pearson, and Houghton Miflin so you can easily follow along with the students’ text book.
This website will also assist the homeschooling parent and give ideas and information on how to teach a certain subject. One of my favorites is geared toward teaching kindergartners “Calendar Math”. “Calendar Math” is also explained by a teacher and examples are shown. This lesson has a complete array of stimulus that not only teaches the months of the year and days of the week, it adds a whole other component that gets into the weather and counting school days by distinguishing 1’s, 10’s and 100’s.
Not good at fractions? There is a video for that and it offers a fun and fail proof way to learn fractions using an indoor basketball game, it’s called “Fraction Activity”. Basically any subject can be found on the website and all the educational videos for K-12 are free to use and revisit any time. Videos are also constantly being added or updated so it’s a good idea to constantly check back. Some of the videos are listed under certain counties, all you have to do is click on the county of your choice and a list of instructional videos per subject will appear.
Willteachyou.com doesn’t just help in the areas of math and English but also touches on subjects in history, science, social science, and physical education. Plus there are numerous other topics other than education that you can purchase for a nominal fee.
As a parent, you shouldn’t have to feel frazzled when you think you can’t help your child. Resources are available and are not out of reach. Willteachyou.com is there by your side giving you the tools you need to succeed.
