A fun way to spread holiday cheer with your family is to create winter crafts together. Below you will find a simple tutorial on transforming empty vitamin bottles into cute snowmen! It is appropriate for all age levels. Collect a variety of sizes and shapes to make a family of snowmen. They can be placed on mantels, windowsills or anywhere else around your home to help add to the festive atmosphere.
Empty Vitamin Bottles (with lids)
Glue Sticks (for glue gun)
Small Craft Pom Poms (black and orange)
Black Craft Pipe Cleaners
Ribbon (thin and holiday themed)
Black Felt Marker
Step One – Peel off any labels from the bottles and wash them out thoroughly. Even though you won’t be working on the inside of the bottle, you still want to make sure it is safe and clear of any residue. Towel dry the bottles and do not worry if there is any sticky spots on the outside from the label, you’ll be covering the area.
Step Two – Take the piece of white felt and wrap it around the vitamin bottle, mark where the felt overlaps with your black felt marker. While you’re holding the felt in place, also mark where the felt hits the bottom of the bottle. Now, use these markings to cut out the felt section that will wrap around the bottle.
Step Three – Using the glue gun, glide thin strips of glue around the bottle and then firmly press the square of white felt onto the bottle.
Step Four – Apply glue onto the lid of the vitamin bottle and then immediately begin to wrap the black pipe cleaner in a circular motion to represent the snowman’s top hat. As the pipe cleaner begins to dry in place, press down on the top of the hat to square it off.
Step Five – Take a few cotton balls and lightly pull them apart. Place circular spots of glue around the bottle and attach the stretched cotton balls onto the white felt to give it a fluffy texture.
Step Six – Place two drops of glue where the eyes will go and then attach two small, black pom poms. Then you’ll glue the orange pom pom underneath them for the nose.
Step Seven – Finally, cut a section of your holiday ribbon from the roll and carefully tie it beneath the snowman’s face, around the neck area.
