The World Series schedule 2010 will go five games, at least. But if the World Series schedule 2010 is to go six games, then the Rangers must get another win tonight. The Rangers stopped the bleeding against the Giants, as their pitching and bats finally woke up. Yet if it turns out to be just a one-night mirage, then the Giants will be back in control before long. Tonight’s Game 4 may be the craziest night on the World Series schedule, as the Rangers and Giants throw their most questionable starters out.
Despite some calls for Cliff Lee to start on three days rest, the Rangers are set to go with Tommy Hunter for Game 4. However, Hunter has been knocked around in his two postseason starts, and if he is battered again, their questionable bullpen will have a long night.
As for the Giants, the World Series schedule 2010 is still under their control, in spite of last night. But they are also going without one of their aces tonight, as Madison Bumgarner will take the mound. Bumgarner didn’t last five innings in his only NLCS start, yet he provided valuable relief in Game 6.
With the question marks around Bumgarner and Hunter, this stands to be a battle of the bullpens. In that case, the Giants have the clear advantage, which is why the Rangers must get ahead quickly tonight. They must jump out on Bumgarner, and hope that Hunter and the middle relievers can hold up before Neftali Felix can shut the door.
If the Rangers can do that, then the World Series schedule 2010 will be reduced to a best-of-three. In that case, the Rangers would have all the momentum going into Game 5, with Lee coming back to redeem himself.
But if the Giants come out ahead in Game 4, the battle will be declared all but over again. With a 3-1 lead, and two potential games left in San Francisco, the Giants would be hard pressed to blow the series then.
Although the Rangers have closed the deficit, this doesn’t make Game 4 any less of a do-or-die struggle. To survive the World Series schedule 2010, they must extend it to six games tonight. Even if they lose tonight and win on Monday, finishing a 3-1 comeback in San Francisco may be too tough.
The Rangers have won three straight postseason games at home, after losing their first three. However, those three wins came with Colby Lewis on the mound, and Lewis won’t take the mound in Arlington again. Lewis’s next start would be in a Game 7 at San Francisco, but that will look very unlikely with a loss tonight.
The World Series schedule resumes at the normal 7:57 pm est starting time, tonight on FOX.
