The World Series schedule 2010 stands to be brief now. Of course, the World Series schedule 2010 wouldn’t be the only brief one in recent years. In fact, four and five game final rounds are the norm in baseball now, so the Giants’ 3-1 lead over the Rangers may not be that surprising. But if the Rangers win tonight, they would make this only the third championship round since 2002 to go six games. Yet given how the World Series schedule has gone, it may not be in the cards, even with Cliff Lee back on the mound.
The Rangers thought they would start things off ahead, with Lee going out in Game 1. Yet the Giants took control right away, after they were the first team to beat Lee in the postseason. If they give him his second playoff loss, then everything will end tonight.
The World Series schedule 2010 gives Game 5 the same super powered pitching matchup as Game 1. However, when Lee and Tim Lincecum faced off last Wednesday, none of them lasted six innings. With Lee now looking human, and Lincecum being vulnerable in his last three starts, this may not be a pitching duel.
Game 5 may not have an 11-7 final score, however – but the Rangers will take any score in which they are ahead. But to do that, they need offense, which they did not have last night against Madison Bumgarner. The Rangers have been shut out twice against the Giants, while all the big hits are coming from San Francisco’s supposedly weak bats.
For all of Lee’s past dominance in this postseason, this is the first time he gets to pitch at Texas in the playoffs. To send the World Series schedule 2010 back to San Francisco, Lee must be the first Rangers pitcher other than Colby Lewis to win a playoff game at home.
Game 5 is Lincecum’s second chance to clinch a postseason series, after he couldn’t do so in the NLCS. Since his dominant Game 1 against the Braves, Lincecum is 2-1, but has not been unhittable. The Rangers jumped on him early in their last meeting, yet he contained the damage before the Giants exploded.
Thus far on the World Series schedule 2010, Lee and Lincecum have been far down the list of pitching heroes. Bumgarner, Lewis and Matt Cain have made a bigger difference than the aces, but now they can either close things out, or prolong them for at least two more days.
Tonight will either have a party in the Bay Area that’s been 53 years in the making, or will have the Giants go back home in a less celebratory mood. The World Series schedule will either end, or extend, in Game 5 at 7:57 pm est on FOX.
