The Sacrificial Goat Pictures Christ’s Sacrifice for Us
The goat that was traditionally sacrificed on the alter in the Old Testament is symbolic of Christ taking our sins upon Himself in order to reconcile us to God the Father. The goat cast into the wilderness pictures Satan who has his part in all the sins that mankind commits. Satan, in God’s time, will be banned from influencing mankind to sin and do evil. Upon repentance, any man or woman can reconcile themselves back to God and begin their lives anew.
Opportunity to Begin a New Life Free From Sin
Once I have truly repented of my sins and accepted Christ as my Savior, I have the opportunity to be at one with God. Through prayer and Bible Study I can draw close to God and experience the true peace of mind that only God can give. This relationship with God gives me the ability to stay calm when great turmoil surrounds me. The effect of the Holy Spirit, which God gives to me when I obey Him, strengthens me internally. This internal strengthening is the spiritual dimension in my life. The spiritual dimension gives me the ability to overcome trials and circumstances that occur in my life.
Yom Kippur is an Integral Part of the Plan of God
Yom Kippur marks the beginning of the process through which God is going to reconcile mankind to Himself. It marks a significant point in the plan of God after Christ returns to the earth and sets up His kingdom as the time when Satan is bound and not allowed to deceive mankind anymore. I look forward to the time when the world will truly live in peace and not be at war or in a state of competition for money and power.
The Establishment of the Kingdom of God
As a part of the process of establishing the Kingdom of God on earth, Yom Kippur symbolizes the time when Satan is no longer a ruler of this world. This holy day celebrates the process of the reconciling of mankind to God and the establishment of the Kingdom of God on the earth through the deposing of the current invisible ruler of this world. The establishment of peace and happiness upon this earth through the binding of Satan is pivotal in the plan of God to save mankind.
